This game looks So Awesome! And it’s Tim Schafer! Doing a (pure) adventure game! I couldn’t really ever get into Psychonauts because it was an adventure-platformer (and I am bad at platformers)… but Tim Schafer will always have my undying love and gratitude for Grim Fandango, which is still the story standard I hold all games to.

It turns out that MotionPlus-supported Wii Sports Resort, the Move’s Sports Champions and Kinect Sports all have a Table Tennis game. All three of these games were created internally and published by the console creators. It seemed like the best comparison.

The United States Supreme Court is hearing that video game case this week, right? Right. The State of California vs. The Entertainment Merchants Association and Entertainment Software Association (aka “The Video Game Industry”). Oral arguments begin at the Supreme Court in front of Justices Roberts, Thomas, Kagan and the rest on Tuesday at 10am ET.
What’s it about, again? Whether violent video games should be treated like pornography — in other words, whether there can be a type of violent video game that would be legal to sell to adults but illegal to sell to kids.
Video games are the comic book of our time [yet] it’s a medium that gains no respect from the intelligentsia. They say ‘oh, video games’. And most people who complain about video games have never fucking played them.

The Gamer I Really Am →
A charming account of a person’s gaming history and how they’ve noted that even in their single player gaming, they’ve never been really by themselves. Which is exactly what I’ve always felt gaming was wonderful for.
So in the past I’ve linked this artist’s work, specifically the Space Invaders project, only I didn’t realize at the time that someone had taken the original video and replaced the audio track with the electronic sound effects from the actual game.
The original video features a human-created soundtrack. It’s definitely a different effect and I can’t actually decide what I prefer better.
At any rate, here’s Pac-Man. Apparently Guillaume has also done Tetris, Pong, and Pole Position, too.

My son Dean is going to be out of beta in just over 3 months and I’ve got some preparing to do. I’ve never understood why parent stick the crap bumper stickers about their six year olds making the honor list in a grade where bladder control is part of the curriculum. So I decided to make some stickers that I would be proud to brag about to the world.
