In a hastily scheduled interview with a friendly Fox host, Romney made this statement: “I participated in a lot of hijinks and pranks during high school, and some might have gone too far, and for that I apologize.” He sort of said he didn’t remember assaulting Lauber. “I don’t remember that incident,” Romney said, laughing. (Laughing?) “I certainly don’t believe that I thought the fellow was homosexual. That was the furthest thing from our minds back in the 1960s, so that was not the case.” So he obviously remembers something – but he didn’t know the guy was gay! About taunting Gary Hummel with “Atta girl,” Romney offers a similar qualified denial: “I really can’t remember that. As this person indicated, he was closeted. I had no idea that he was gay and can’t speak to that even today.” So I didn’t do it, and anyway, the guy was closeted. Romney closed with the classic non-apology apology: ”If there’s anything I said that is offensive to someone, I certainly am sorry for that, very deeply sorry for that.”

I’m not sure what’s worse – that he remembers his cruel pranks, and he’s lying about it, or that such cruelty doesn’t stand out in his memory.

It’s really heartrendingly beautiful. Very artsy and awe-tastic and visual moments that just took my breath away. Maybe took me … four hours in all, to get through all of it? And mostly it’s because every time I neared the end of the level, if I discovered that I hadn’t collected all the scarf pieces, I’d quit and try again. >_>

It’s really not much of a game at all, in the traditional sense, though I expected that and was okay with it. It’s an interesting experience, especially if you’re playing for the first time through, and you get a buddy at … certain moments. Finding scarf pieces was actually pretty aggravating, but it’s an exploration game, so it’s totally acceptable for them to be hiding in obscure places that you’d never think to check. :P

Still. Really, really gorgeous. (And I’m really really unhappy that there’s no way to get screenshots of certain sections of the game so I can plaster my desktop with them >_< )

And even though this was the only game of the three that I purchased, I really hope thatgamecompany gets to continue their work as an independent developer, now that their three game contract is up…

I hope you dumb college kids who pull all-nighters every other day are paying attention, cause this shit applies even if you’re not getting a paycheck.

The other thing about knowledge workers is that they’re exquisitely sensitive to even minor sleep loss. Research by the US military has shown that losing just one hour of sleep per night for a week will cause a level of cognitive degradation equivalent to a .10 blood alcohol level.
