Closing reception for Singularities was tonight, with parents of students in attendance and more. Apparently it’s tradition to have a kagami biraki at this particular reception, which turned out to be vastly entertaining.

(of course I gave up my sake to my dad to drink.  XP )

Scott Fisher (the IMD chair who’s been on sabbatical this whole year) Skyped in from Kyoto (or … Tokyo? can’t remember) to explain the significance of the ritual. And to mourn that he wasn’t getting any sake, even though he had one of the custom-made IMD-branded sake cups.  :x
