Spendthrift

rants - pennywise

I’m going through one of my money-agonizing phases. This time over Wii / Wii Fit. I seem to have these periods in which I will almost-definitely-want to buy something, usually something expensive, but be unsure if it’s really a necessary purchase. I believe the last time it was over the Vostro laptop.

I mean… I haven’t really been all that interested in buying a Wii. There aren’t all that many games on it that I’ve been dying to play (read: none, except I did really want to try Twilight Princess). If I were going to spend cash on a gaming thing, I’d want the DS, cause there are tons of games on that thing that I’d like to try, and more on the way… plus it’s one-third the price.

But there’s no Wii Fit for DS… which is pretty much the only reason I’d be getting a Wii. There’re a couple old GC games I wouldn’t mind trying (Metroid Prime) … but again, not many.

It feels a little foolish to spend around $300 for something that, you know, if I had just a little self-discipline, I could probably get the same results for free.

Then again, I did much the same for DDR… that is, bought an expensive console… just so I could play DDR. I guess that worked out for a solid year or so.

Arrrgggh… gaming is so expensive! >_< I want StarCraft too, so I can finally get my butt kicked by the other ATDP SCers… but I just bought Portal not that long ago (though that was definitely an intelligent purchase) … and I bought AudioSurf (which was not as great a purchase, but half the price of Portal) … and I bought Everyday Shooter (which was … well, a decent purchase. and I don’t regret supporting indie developers. still haven’t seen the end though, grrr).

At least Grimm is coming out next month over GameTap, so I won’t have to spend more for that. ;_; Arrrggh, money!!
