$$ makes the world go 'round

rants

If I had unlimited finances, I would get all this.

  • That OGIO bag that was in the bookstore
  • Ticket to Wicked
  • Cable internet service, because the service we have now bites
  • A Campfire premium account, so that we don’t have to use crappy AIM chatrooms for the seminar backchannel
  • New wireless router
  • Digital camera
  • New Mac mini to use as a webserver
  • New portable computer, because I think mine is really starting to show its age. It makes really terrible noises at random intervals, disconnects from the wireless networks on a semi-frequent basis, and worse… it’s starting to have graphical issues reminiscent of the problems I was having a couple years back… which I eventually had to take the laptop in for and I’m sure this thing is no longer under warranty if I needed to do the same now…
  • A non-crappy AIM/Google Talk client … except such a thing doesn’t even exist, so even if I had $2480193583048, I still couldn’t buy one.

I’m really depressed, because I can’t get a new computer right now… but the way my tablet struggles with Max/MSP and that stupid program I DLed to interface with the projectors at ZML… makes me very, very sad.

As it is… I think I’ll be getting… none of those. ::sighs:: Stupid, stupid money. Gah, I still have to finish rewriting the Muller scholarship crap… stuff is due next week.

I like how Wicked is first on the list… :X Haha

Okay. I just rearranged the list so that items are progressively more expensive. :P

If you can, seriously, just spring for balcony Wicked tix, which were $30something for my sister when we went at the Orpheum. It’s beyond worth it.

Or see if your theater has a deal like the ORpheum did; before Sunday shows (or maybe even every show), there’s a random drawing at either noon or two hours before the show starts. If you get chosen, you can pay $25 for a pair of practically FRONT ROW seats. I tried this with Kim N. once, and the people in FRONT and BEHIND us got tickets, but we were skipped over. But it goes to show, there is a very real chance; they gave out quite a few tickets.

Yeah, when Rebecca went to NY she went to a few shows, and won the raffle for a pair of front row seats.. forget which show it was for though, but I guess they do that a lot. :P Wicked is worth it!

What IM client do you use? Adium on OSX can handle GTalk/AIM and is simple, elegant, and covers the functions I need.

If you’re on Windows, though, Pidgin is the best I can think of :/
