In case you didn't get it

I really find it odd how many people do not understand the story behind Dev’s “Frame of Mind”. I mean, we’ve shown the film to non-WoW players and they still get what happened and understand the user inferface metaphor. I wonder what we would discover if I polled all the people who didn’t understand it… could they all be WoW addicts who are fully decked out in epic gear and/or have no people in game who would call them friend?
:x
Though I don’t know. Maybe the tagline “gear can be epic, friendship can be legendary” was just an itsy bit misleading. It’s supposed to be about not sweating the stupid little things and understanding that real sense of fulfillment comes from sharing your life with others. Your basic “mind over matter” bit, basically.
It’s not about boy-meets-girl at all, which a lot of people ended up thinking it was… it was supposed to be about WoW players in general. Dev would have made the exact same film if my character that I level with his had been male instead… but I always roll female avatars, so that wasn’t really an option. With all the people thinking it was supposed to be a love story, I’m starting to think that it really would have been better off with two male characters. Oh well. :P
I also find all the “movie’s great, but that music sucks” comments to be hilarious. Since Sedrin didn’t get to pick what music he put in… just had a choice out of three, all from the same band. I guess not all of them are responsible for knowing that. And then another criticism I found to be extremely entertaining… “To be honest though I still think his is better because of all the interface footage in yours. Ruins the feeling.”
… dur? Sedrin’s movie would have been very broken without interface footage. Period. >_>;
Anyway. A final list of all the locations “Frame of Mind” is published, for my own reference. Eh-heh.

I think if it had been two male characters, everyone would have assumed it was a gay thing. :P

I was among the rabble that had it wrong, but not so wrong that I feel shamed.
If anything I was more astonished that Sam would choose that music for ANYTHING. His grasp of modern pop is on par with my grandmother, (or was two years ago, for what that’s worth.)
I didn’t realize it was a forced decision. I should watch it again, now enlightened.
