Portfolio snapshot #3
3:14 AM | "Prohibited Art", Shadow of the Colossus OST
icam, work - design
Temporary copy of what I’ve completed so far: http://kass.metaminstrel.net:8080/portfolio/.
What I could really use is someone to check over the site using PC IE6. I personally have upgraded my IE up to 7, so I have no idea how the site looks in that particular browser. If someone with IE6 could please check and compare between Firefox and IE6… I’m primarily interested in knowing if the alpha transparent .pngs are working or not. If you have no idea what that means… >_> … what you want to do is look at the text area next to the really big image… and if it’s gray in IE, then it’s NOT working. If you can see through it (i.e., the background is transparent), it IS working. Mac users should tell me how the site looks in Safari, naturally, but I’m not expecting much trouble from there.
Someone should also note when they click on the thumbnails for the WoWPS page… whether or not you get a loading animation. I think the answer is no… that will help me determine where the heck I’m supposed to put the stupid loading animation in the first place. ::too lazy to empty cache and try it herself::
General proofreading would be kinda nice too… if you were bored and wanted to read every little clip of text, feel free. XP I’m also trying to figure out what pictures to use on the voices page… a chatbot doesn’t give me many options for photography, let me tell you.
There are tons of broken links; don’t worry, I know about them and will get to them eventually. The “index” links on each page should work, prev and next do nothing. Don’t bother clicking the resume or statement of purpose links… they go nowhere.
Alex gets at least 60% of the credit for this layout idea. XP I’m in love with ThickBox, and despite the fact that I think you guys are fairly confused about the purpose of TGM, I will not be featuring it in my portfolio all the same… though I still do have to make a page for it, since I realized I never did that. Thanks for any input that people gave regarding that. ::cough::
And this holiday color scheme is still utterly delicious… makes me want a mug of hot cocoa and some mini marshmAllows. ::mmmm…::
Well, I’m at school using IE 6, and the transparent pngs don’t work. x( And no animation on the WoWPS page either. There’s no Firefox on these computers so I can’t go back and forth, but tell me if there’s anything else to check and I’ll do it tomorrow. xD

MarshmAllows… marshmAllows… I refuse to accept the odd evolution of the word. ;p
Anyway, for a Voices picture, why not a photo of the TIC lab in action last summer? After all, most of your Aida beta testers are/were TIC students. A filtered photo would look nice, of course… perhaps Gaussian blurred first then do a painterly effect, something like that.

Googlefight result for marshmallow/marshmellow. ;p

Before you chide me for being irrelevantly nitpicky with the marshmallows, I’ll say that your Portfolio is gorgeous, just gorgeous!
A minor blemish, maybe not even that… when I first loaded it on Safari, the default textsize was small enough such that the bottom portion of the images on the “recommended things” section was peeking through. Intentional?
Screenshot…
Bumping the browser text-size up one “fixed” it, though.
Love it, love it!
